I was about to send the following, but I was waiting for the new
bugnumber to add the content to.

I have the same problem as described in the comment by Yann Rouillard
<yann@pleiades.fr.eu.org> (in the bug log). Installing (upgrading) nscd
works ok but after a reboot nscd won't start because of the
missing /var/run/nscd (I also have /var/run on tmpfs).

The consensus seems to be that the directory should be created from the
init script (and probably not by the package install).
