Bug#309489: FTBFS on hurd-i386: known failure when building with TLS enabled

Package: glibc
Version: 2.3.5-1
Severity: important
Tags: experimental

Hi,

I had a hard time trying to build glibc from experimental on and off
over the last few weeks on hurd-i386. It always seemed to crash the box
when trying to link rpcgen. Today, I finally connected this event to
something else: TLS is broken on the Hurd currently (somebody is
[slowly] working on that), and it is imperative that the --without-tls
option be added to glibc's configure options on hurd-i386 for the time
being as TLS will crash Hurd/Mach as soon as it is used (which is the
case when linking rpcgen apparently). As I am on vacation from tomorrow
on, I was not able to try a new build yet, but Thomas Schwinge reported
this issue here:

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-hurd/2005-03/msg00009.html

and confirmed that the build goes fine after adding the option.

So please add the --without-tls configure option for hurd-i386 for the
next revision.

thanks,

Michael
