Package: libc6
Version: 2.3.2.ds1-19

Just done an update/upgrade of sid

[UPGRADE] libc6 2.3.2.ds1-18 -> 2.3.2.ds1-19

and wierd things are happening.

First of all mv segfaults. Well it did. System (possibly just X)
hung-up, rebooted now mv seems OK. Not much information, I'm sorry.
However I'm also getting this problem with rsync (which wasn't upgraded):

/usr/bin/rsync: relocation error: /usr/bin/rsync: symbol ÿÿÿÿut, version
GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

which might be a clue.

Since rebooting the strange symbol has been replaced by an empty string.

If I find more clues I'll let you know.

Dick

No, not hardware. It was a sw library incompatibility or some such. I
thought I'd email to say I'd fixed it. Sorry if I didn't. It was my
problem, which I realized after other programs started misbehaving.

If I recall I did a complete Debian re-download and re-install (all
packages) and everything worked after that. Exactly what was the cause
I never found out.

I'm more than happy for this to be closed. Appologies for wasting your
bandwidth.

Dick
