Of course, ideally upgrading kernel should not break userland apps.
But you had problem about v4l2, so you submitted this bug.

Then, again, any progress about this problem?  AFAIK, nvrec is not
debian package - we can't test anything.  Moreover, you did not
mention about this problem in detail.  We have no idea.  Please fix
and send the patch.  I think it's good idea to contact to nvrec author
about this, instead of us.
