My access point/dialup machine/switch does not need to support any zone other than UTC, this does not mean it does not handle "time"; in fact it is also a NTP server.. I ran this machine for two years without /usr/share/zoneinfo, back when it had a 32 mb debian install on its compact flash. -- see shy jo
