Rolling back to libc6 2.3.1-17 helps.
I look into /proc/N/status for smbd process, and with libc6 2.3.2-2 I see that last group in the "Groups:" list is the same as pre-last. With libc6 2.3.1-17 this effect disappears. Like this :

Groups: 1 255 230 229 211 (with libc6 2.3.1-17)
Groups: 1 255 230 229 229 (with libc6 2.3.2-2)

Using "su" to switch to that user id does not show the same behaviour. i
May be there is something buggy in Samba as well.

We are also using NIS domain in "compat" nsswitch mode, and nscd for caching.

That's good. I close this bug, but if you find the problem with the
latest glibc, please reopen and send us the report.
