Package: libc6
Version: 2.3.2-2
Severity: critical
Tags: sid
Justification: breaks unrelated software

After upgrading to libc6 2.3.2-2, a lot of programs have begun to fail
with SIGILL on a SparcStation 10, among them procps:

  waegoo:~/procps-3.1.11# gdb ./debian/procps/bin/ps
  (...)
  (gdb) r
  Starting program: /root/procps-3.1.11/debian/procps/bin/ps
(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...
  (no debugging symbols found)...
Program received signal SIGILL, Illegal instruction.
  0x50088b18 in __strtod_internal () from /lib/libc.so.6
  (gdb) bt
  #0 0x50088b18 in __strtod_internal () from /lib/libc.so.6
  #1 0x500a88f0 in _IO_vfscanf () from /lib/libc.so.6
  #2 0x500b4ad0 in vsscanf () from /lib/libc.so.6

This also seems to break reportbug, so I simply downgraded to 2.3.1-16 again,
which works just fine.

This was discussed:

#203322: python2.2: Python fails with illegal instruction during po=
stinst on sparc32
        #203324: libc6: __strtod_internal fails with illegal instruction on=

=46rom the conclusion of above threads, I close this bug. If you don't
think it should not be closed, then please discuss with debian-sparc
guys in first instead of reopening this bug.
