Bug#204711: libc6: dpatch applies successfully.
Package: libc6
Version: 2.3.2-2
Followup-For: Bug #204711
Hi. I grabbed the dpatch Guido posted and put that in glibc's
debian/patches, made it chmod +x, then edited the 0list file in that
dir. I'm not sure if that's the full procedure, but I made sure that
the patch was included in the build process through the build messages.
It compiled fine, I copied it to the affected machine, and it seems to
work. Basically the testing so far is this:
Before (with libc6 from unstable):
% sudo su - damian
su: Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info.
(Ignored)
%
After (with libc6 sources from unstable + Guido's patch):
% sudo su - damian
%
ssh works as expected too. If you'd like me to test further dpatches, I
can do that, and my build machine is probably much much faster than my
modem, so it's easier than nabbing multiple .debs for me. ;)
If I get time tonight, I might try going through and eliminating certain
hunks from consideration, but since it's libc6 I'm playing with here, I
may be a little conservative. Is there a document on chucking this
stuff into a chroot and using LD_LIBRARY_PATH instead of stuffing my
whole machine up if something goes wrong?
