Bug#204711: libc6: PAM broken, login impossible, possibly NIS related

Hello,

I just had to downgrade from libc6 2.3.2-2 to 2.3.1-17, due to the same 
reasons reported previously..

su, ssh and proftpd reported:

"Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info.."

(su would let me into the accounts after displaying that message)

I'm using a combination of NIS and local accounts (whew!) .. local 
accounts in the passwd/shadow file could log in, however NIS accounts 
had problems .. NIS itself appeared to be working (could ypcat the 
maps, and even "id" the NIS users, just couldn't log in)

as soon as I downgraded just the libc6 package (still running with all 
other packages [pam, etc..] as the latest versions in unstable), the 
accounts could log in again ..

I can provide more information/testing if needed..
