OK, it seems your memory is normal state.

Does not 2.4.20-686 help you?

Hm, so do you have problems only for debuild?  Other trouble such as
X11 stop, gcc segv, kernel random panic, are not occured?  If so, it
means that perl or debuild behaves strangely.  If it's a bug for
glibc, this becomes serious problem.  Please upgrade your entire
system into the latest sid (you used a bit obsolete sid), and retry
test.
