Most likely, those errors are being caused by a problem in ghemical.
C[++] compilers are notorious for reporting errors on the wrong line. If
it does turn out to be a glibc problem, then please attach the fully
preprocessed source of either a minimal testcase or of that file.

I'm pretty confident iostream works, or that if it didn't there would be
many, many more bugs reported...
