Actually, glibc shouldn't need this.  I did the last compile of svgalib
and understand the problem, but at this point, it's very hard to actually
perform the compile now (sources have changed, kernel has changed, etc).
The original Alpha patch to SVGAlib was not generated by the author, so
it's not being updated with the kernel or the rest of the source.

Basically, a full patch rewrite may/probably will be needed for this to
work properly again....not only to include the other machine types for
Alpha, but also to bring it more up to date with the state of glibc and
the kernel.
