Bug#34442: libc6: Different format for /var/db/*.db

Package: libc6
Version: 2.1.1-0pre1

When I installed the latest beta of libc6 I suddenly couldn't perform common
operations such as chown, ls (just reported UID/GID numbers), and network
operations. It seems that a different format is now being used for data in
/var/db/*.db. When I did "rm /var/db/*.db" and "make -C /var/db" things
worked fine.
I have tested this on two machines (so it's not a case of one machine being
corrupted). The second machine I tested it on had never had password
databases used before (so there was no issue of old strange data).
I believe that the correct solution to this problem is to have the postinst
of libc6 look for the presense of /var/db/*.db and if so rm all those files
and make them again.
