Bug#38978: bug#38978: illegal instruction error on 386
Hi,
> I get these too since I yesterday upgraded my 386sx16 to potato current.
Just an update:
I tried downgrading to libc6 2.1.1-2 and that really broke things (ps
dumping core etc.) It looks like the newer versions are indeed a big
improvement.
I tested a 386dx machine with the harddisk from the 386sx and there's no
difference, route, netstat, ipchains all SIGILL and coredump. When I put
the disk in a pentium, all is well, except that some postinsts (such as
libc6.postinst - it put my machine in the "Factory" timezone, it used to
be set correctly before) seem to have silently failed during the initial
upgrade. I reran all postinst scripts manually on the pentium and that
fixed things.
I tried libc6 2.1.2-0pre4 today and it still has the same problems as
-0pre2 (SIGILL on route, netstat, ipchains.) If you need more detailed
info from me just ask.
Cheers,
Joost
