Futher playing with the utmp and utmpx files show that utmpd is not doing its job in keeping utmp and utmpx in sync. I cleared the contents of the utmp and utmpx files then logged back in. After this, the 'w' command showed me as being logged in, but tho 'who' command did not. the 'utmpx' file is being maintained by utmpd, but the old-style /var/run/utmp file is not being updated at all. -- Sean Kelly <firstname.lastname@example.org> or <email@example.com> PGP KeyID: 1024/77042C7B ICQ UIN: 27955995 AIM: CmdrLinux IRC: drdink@SlashNET Send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with subject "send pgp key" for public key.
