Bug#33832: libc6: dlopen problem. causes libraries to get opened about 4x (patch included)

Package: libc6
Version: 2.0.7.19981211-5
Severity: important

As originally posted in the mozilla newsgroups,
(http://x15.dejanews.com/[ST_rn=ps]/getdoc.xp?AN=443834109&search=thread&threaded=1&CONTEXT=919910563.905969946&hitnum=0)
there is a serious problem in glibc's dlopen code, which causes dlopen to open
a library multiple times, thus providing a huge memory leak in programs which
rely on dlopen for loading libraries.

there is a patch at:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/libraries/source/glibc-2.0.7-dlopen.patch
which fixes this behavior.
there are also RPMS available in this location for redhat people...

I believe it is very important that this fix get into slink and potato to
fix this problem with mozilla and i'm sure other programs that use dlopen.

Please let me know if you have any questions/problems/etc
