I'm backporting GMT from debian (experimental) to ubuntu.
I used a small fix for the makefile (which I added to the git repository [1])

I've refactored the disable-examples.patch to not require CMake >= 3.2 in gmt (5.1.2+dfsg1-1~exp7) triggered by your change for Ubuntu. The next revision resolved some more conflicts with other packages, so I suggest your try building gmt (5.1.2+dfsg1-1~exp8) for trusty.

But now I get a problem compiling some of the documentation when
compiling on i386.

Anyone a clue what could be wrong/what can be done to fix this?

Not without a build log to see what is failing exactly. The builds for Debian unstable succeed on all architectures.

Kind Regards,
