Re: GDAL/OGR 1.11.0
I've rebuild the GDAL reverse dependencies.
The only package to FTBFS is liblas with mismatches between
gt_wkt_srs.cpp and the gdal headers. The upstream master repo [1]
contains changes for GDAL 1.11.0, and a new upstream release is possible
in September/October, which will be too late for the Debian freeze.
While I've not investigated the feasibility of backporting the GDAL
changes for libLAS, maybe we should consider not shipping libLAS in
jessie, or stick to GDAL 1.10.1. We could reintroduce libLAS via
jessie-backports once 1.8 is released and made its way to testing, if we
decide to drop it in favor of GDAL 1.11.0.
Since I wrote the above, I've been in contact with Howard Butler, the
libLAS upstream author, and he could release libLAS 1.8 sooner to get
the GDAL 1.11.0 support released if that would help Debian. We'll need
to rebuild pktools for libLAS 1.8, the only reverse dependency of libLAS
currently.

The grass package is generally in bad shape. It has many lintian issues
including a couple of errors. [2] We should fix these issues while
possibly updating the package to the recently released 6.4.4 release. I
don't expect us to be able to update grass to 7.0.0 in time for the freeze.

We don't need to rebuild libgdal-grass, the 1.11.0 version is also
already in experimental. It should probably be uploaded to unstable
after grass has been binNMU'ed for GDAL 1.11.0.
