Re: Bug#722429: ITP: osmctools -- Some tools to manipulate OpenStreetMap files

Hi Pierre,

thanks for your ITP. The package seems to fit nicely into the Debian GIS
scope which just has assembled a lot of OSM packages as you can see here:

   http://blends.alioth.debian.org/gis/tasks/osm [1]

So it would make perfectly sense if you also would join the Debian GIS
team on alioth

   https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-grass/

and put the packaging into the according VCS. The advantage you have by
doing so is that your package will immediately advertised automatically
at the tasks page[1] above in the "started in VCS" section (since I just
added the osmctools entry into the according tasks file). Another
advantage would be to have way better chances to find a sponsor for your
package.

Regarding the ITP itself I think you should be more verbose in the long
description, what these tools are doing, what the converters are
converting, etc.

Kind regards

       Andreas.
