FTR, it has not been completely uncoordinated, there is an ongoing
discussion on the RPM packaging team's mailing list where Matthias
asked about our plans to upgrade rpm to 4.17 and I confirmed that
there is work in progress and it will most probably be done in
the next couple of days.

Still, thanks for filing this bug for the purpose of keeping the new
version of debugedit out of testing for the present.
