Bug#884179: Gcc 6 Segfault fix in Debian

Hi,

late last year i opened a bug and helped out fixing a regression in the
gcc found in debian9.

After that we also opened a Debian bug to get that fix into Debian,
where we initially came across the issue.

Now i would like to focus attention on that bug again, it is a trivial
cherry-pick. Is it maybe in the wrong category?
