I'm exploring possible options like patching (upstream) GCC to disable PIE for kernel or patching (upstream) kernel to disable PIE when it can be disabled. AFAIK the linux package is the only problematic package were the maintainer refused to disable PIE from packaging scripts.
And I shre with him the fact that it is not a solution: you need to fix that upstream packages (both gcc and kernel) because many pepole are compiling their own kernel for various reasons (applying additional patches, compiling external modules, ..). And your change just breaks that.
