While debugging kernel panics on boot with openvz kernel,
it was discovered that kernel with the same config compiled with gcc 4.3 panics, 
while compiled with gcc-4.1 boots okay.

Kernels are usually not buildable with newer compilers. As you use
2.6.18, you can't assume that it will build with a compiler much newer
then the kernel itself.

As you described no real bug in the compiler, like misscompilation of
valid code, and history showed that it is simply not possible to do what
you want, I'm closing this bug. Please come back if you have real
evidence against the compilers in the current Squeeze distribution.
