Package: gij-4.1 Version: 4.1.1-17 Severity: minor One of our users has seen the following error: $ java FirstSample Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: FirstSample at gnu.java.lang.MainThread.run(libgcj.so.70) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: FirstSample not found in gnu.gcj.runtime.SystemClassLoader{urls=[file:./], parent=gnu.gcj.runtime.ExtensionClassLoader{urls=[], parent=null}} at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(libgcj.so.70) at gnu.gcj.runtime.SystemClassLoader.findClass(libgcj.so.70) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(libgcj.so.70) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(libgcj.so.70) at gnu.java.lang.MainThread.run(libgcj.so.70) even though javac FirstSample.java worked flawlessly and the class was definitely there. Even more so, the Sun VM was able to run the FirstSample class. Some investigations showed that the problem seems to be caused by a umlaut being contained in the directory name; if one copies the files to, e.g., /tmp/ things work fine.
