It was probably due to a full file system. The same problem occurred
a couple of days ago, and the /tmp was full (I've heard that on the
machine in question, the file system could quickly become full due to
a known mounting problem).

So, the error itself is not due to a bug, but the error message is
buggy ("Success" is wrong here because te write failed). IMHO, the
problem is that for some reason, the errno value has been lost.
