So I have had a hard time compiling the latest kernel from the debian
linux-source package.

At first when I downloaded the package with synaptic the source
tar.bz2 was somehow corrupted. When extracting the archive tar gave an
error. So I removed the package, the package cache and installed it
again. The second install of linux-source-2.6.23-1 went ok. This is
propably not related to this bug report...

After extraction made the link, config and make-kpkg clean.

Compiling command was
make-kpkg --revision=3:Birdikerneleivesatng2.6.23-1 kernel_image

The make-kpkg complained about the hyphenation in the revision but I
don't think it has anything to do with this?

This is the compiler output:

 CC [M] drivers/media/video/zr36060.o
  CC [M] drivers/media/video/cpia.o
drivers/media/video/cpia.c: In function 'fetch_frame':
drivers/media/video/cpia.c:2961: internal compiler error: Segmentation
fault
