Would you do the following for the failing assert?
p debug_rtx (insn)
p debug_rtx (i1)
p debug_rtx (substed)
If i1 or substed have been optimized away, you can get at them
in rtx_equal_p as using $r26 and $r25.
It's doubtful there will be a quick fix for this as the problem likely
isn't in the backend.
