a) I am not a newbie. I just know it's not installable *now* and
therefore it's a bug *now*. Yes, it'll get fixed when ecj is through
NEW, but that doesn't change that the package in sid is broken
currently.

*You* were uploading a pacjage knowingly not being able to install in
sid because *you* *knew* that ecj was in NEW.

b) you could have prevented that yourself by not uploading a package
which knwingly is not installable in sid. But waiting for all the
gcj-42/java-gcj-compat uploads until ecj was through NEW.
