Hello Mathias,

Trying to rebuild locally this experimental gcc-4.0 dpkg, it failled early because:
checking whether the C compiler (gnatgcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.
make[1]: *** [stamps/04-configure-stamp] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/Develop/WorksBind/tools/Gcc-4.0-dpkg/gcc-4.0-4.0.0'make: *** [stamps/04-configure-stamp] Error 2

After the install of the experimental gnat-4.0 dpkg, I encounter next pb:
checking for correct version of gmp.h... no
configure: error: GMP with MPFR support is required to build f95
make[1]: *** [stamps/04-configure-stamp] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/Develop/WorksBind/tools/Gcc-4.0-dpkg/gcc-4.0-4.0.0'make: *** [stamps/04-configure-stamp] Error 2

And the same later after the install of libgmp3-dev, the follwoing failure oocured:
checking for MPFR... no
configure: error: GMP with MPFR support is required to build f95
make[1]: *** [stamps/04-configure-stamp] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/Develop/WorksBind/tools/Gcc-4.0-dpkg/gcc-4.0-4.0.0'make: *** [stamps/04-configure-stamp] Error 2

so install libmpfr-dev

I presume that's a lake in build dependencies.

Hth,
         Joel

PS: btw I also notice some (what seems harmless) make errors because:
lsb-release cmd not found.
