A guide to packing a language: GHDL.

Hello debian-gcc,

I am interested in packaging ghdl (http://ghdl.free.fr) for debian, but I'm a
little unsure on how to go about it.

The README contained in the source file states that I must place a directory
as a subdirectory of the gcc tree and evoke ./configure of the gcc source
with '--enable-languages=vhdl' and then compile gcc.

Is there a way of incorporating vhdl as a language into the already packaged
gcc? Or do I have to use the gcc sources and compile it separately in a
manner that doesn't clobber the files of the existing gcc packages?

Thank you in advance.
Mark Cox

P.S. I'm not currently subscribed to the debian-gcc mailing list.
