what is the diff?

Dear guys:
  I checked the distribution page http://gcc.gnu.org and can't find the
version of gcc-2.95.4. but in debian page, it shows this version on his
page. what is the difference between them?
  I got some source code, it need the gcc-2.95.4 to compile. I tried to
compile them with 2.95.3, it doesn't work with  error about template.
who can tell me the diff?
