I have done my own bit of research and found that due to bug #224848 (
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=224848 ) this conflict
was introduced on purpose. Extract from
/usr/share/doc/libg2c0/changelog.Debian.gz:
...
* Move libg2c libraray files out of the gcc specific libdir to /usr/lib.
For g77-3.3 add conflicts to other g77 packages. Closes: #224848.
...
My question is, how can I have g77-3.2 and g77-3.3 coexisting on my
system? Is there perhaps a way to fix g77-3.2 so it does not conflict
with later versions?
Cheers, Stefan
