Funny, the rest of the world gets it just fine...

This looks to be a dependancy issue in OpenOffice offhand, but I'm not
familiar with that software.

Um. Not really sure how to say this without laughing...
Kindly just report the symptoms, and let the doctors do the diagnosing.
The output of --version has absolutely nothing to do with the SONAME field
of a shared library.
