Unfortunately, though the babel.jar archive compiles with gcj-3.3,
because it must be run to build the package, the package does not build.

However, gcj-3.3 is not at fault. The new kaffe has more verbose error
messages, and gives the following:

/bin/sh ../../bin/babel --suppress-timestamp --no-default-repository\
   --generate-sidl-stdlib --vpath=. ./sidl.sidl
Babel: Parsing URL
"file:/home/hazelsct/babel-0.8.6/runtime/sidl/sidl.sidl"...
kaffe-bin: machine.c:620: installMethodCode: Assertion `e->start_pc <= e->end_pc' failed.
../../bin/babel: line 258: 10854 Aborted                 ${THIS_JAVA} ${JAVA_ADDCLASSPATH_FLAG} "${CLASSPATH}" gov.llnl.babel.CommandLineDriver ${REPOSITORY_PATH} ${args}

[babel is a script which runs java babel.jar with a bunch of other
classes.]

Funny thing is, when babel is compiled with gcj-3.2, this works! So
something in kaffe doesn't like gcj-3.3-compiled code.

Note that this is preventing babel 0.8.6 from entering testing, as it
must build-depend on gcj-3.2, which no longer exists (bug 209283).

Thanks,
