I think the main thing is that it would be useful if this were documented in the GCC manual as well as the libstdc++ manual since that's where the bug really is - I actually ran into it on a source file which didn't reference libstdc++ at all. -- "You grabbed my hand and we fell into it, like a daydream - or a fever."
