 Hello Matthias, Chris (et al.),

I can try, but am VERY tight on time this week and possibly next. Adam,
if you can look at it, please do. If you run into a wall, let me know and
I'll see if I can free up some time to look at it.

I posted the attached patch to the BTS two days ago, but it vanished, it's not in the BTS, I didn't get an acknowledgement, and it didn't bounce. In fact, three other messages to the BTS suffered the same fate. Let's see if this go works...

This doesn't exactly fix the problem in the way I originally intended, but allows the non-mieee and -mieee versions of libg2c which the gcc build process automatically makes for alpha to both be installed, so users can choose which libs to link to. Non-mieee is the default, as it should be. We should consider adding g++ and gcc to the -mieee libs installed, but this will satisfy me and close this bug. :-)

I've also opened a bug against lapack requesting that the "LOADER" command in that package which links the tests use g77 -L/usr/lib/gcc-lib/alpha-linux/2.95.4/ieee, which makes the linker use the -mieee libg2c (it works -- I checked), but may or may not cause problems when alpha eventually goes to g77-3.0. Another lapack test fails, but that's a separate matter, for a separate bug report (which I filed yesterday, but also vanished).

Thanks again for your patience with this, Matthias; this should finish off this bug once and for all!

Zeen,
