Install new 'gcc' package (and all dependencies). It does not conflict with 'gcc-3.0'.
Hint: 'gcc' and 'gcc-3.0' are different packages.

Then, to use gcc 2.95.x run gcc or gcc-2.95, to use gcc 3.0.x run gcc-3.0.


(Assuming you are using at least woody, but on potato things may work fine as well.)
