Probably because they define the functions whether the hardware supports it
or not?

I don't think we can live with this -- no kernels can be built for ultrasparc
processors with that.  While we do want to get started on the transition,
I don't think we can take away what is needed to compile a kernel.

I don't think we should start the transition until the compiler is fixed
properly.
