Hmm, do you mean it does not work on arm, hppa, mips and mipsel?
Is this considered a release-critical bug?

What about the other java compilers? It is true, for example, that for
each architecture that will be released in woody there is at least
some java compiler that works? In such case, Build-Depends: java-compiler
would work, since gettext actually sets wrappers around them.
(there was a bug in the configure script which will be fixed in 0.11.1).
