Dear Debian Fonts Team,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am writing to respectfully bring to your attention the increasing importance of the new Adwaita fonts within the modern GNOME desktop environment and to request your consideration for their inclusion in the upcoming Debian 13 "Trixie" release.
As GNOME continues to evolve, the new Adwaita fonts are becoming an integral part of its visual identity. With the previous font now often serving as a fallback, the new Adwaita fonts are crucial for ensuring a consistent and intended look and feel across core GNOME applications and the overall desktop.
The absence of these fonts in Trixie could potentially lead to:
* Visual Inconsistencies: GNOME applications might render with fallback fonts, deviating from their intended design and potentially causing layout shifts or readability issues.
* Suboptimal User Experience: Users expecting the modern GNOME look and feel might find the experience less polished if the primary design font is missing.
Given that GNOME is a flagship desktop environment for Debian, ensuring its components are presented as intended is important for the overall user experience. Including the new Adwaita fonts would contribute significantly to this.
I understand that the Debian 13 "Trixie" release is currently in the hard freeze stage, and the introduction of new packages is generally avoided to prioritize stability. However, considering the central role of these fonts in the modern GNOME aesthetic, I believe their inclusion would be a valuable enhancement for a significant portion of Debian users.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter. Your work on maintaining and providing high-quality fonts for Debian is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Megh Badoniya
