Hi,

Isn't this fixed now somehow ?
I cannot reproduce this on unstable + fonts-font-awesome v4.7 with
- fonts-font-awesome 4.7.0~dfsg-1
- vim-gtk 2:8.1.0089-1
- libpango-1.0.0 1.42.1-1
- libgtk2.0-0 2.24.32-1
- fontconfig 2.13.0-5

The arrow U+f175 is rendered correctly.
