Dear Maintainer,

The exclamation point character (!) is rendered as a solid vertical line at
sizes smaller than 12 points, causing potential confusion with the vertical
bar character (|).

I have hinting and autohint enabled, and hintstyle set to hintfull in my
~/.fonts.conf.

This is an artifact caused by the autohinter.  Therefore there is nothing
wrong with the font that is causing this problem.
