Its is needed only if you want to migrate history from SVN to Git. I
think Christian managed to do this sort of migration for other project
but I'm not sure if he generated a mapping file. You can generate the
mapping file for specified repository using commands specified in Wiki
page you linked above and use it to do the migration. After migration
is done you need to create repository at /git/pkg-fonts on git.d.o
(not sure which machine it is now) using setup-repository script which
is present in same folder.
Once repo is setup on git.d.o you need to setup proper remote on
migrated local repository and push changes there.
