Package: ttf-sil-gentium
Version: 1.02+dfsg1-5
Severity: wishlist

It would be very helpful to add the characters U+0401 CYRILLIC CAPITAL
LETTER IO and U+0451 CYRILLIC SMALL LETTER IO to Gentium Regular,
because they are all that is missing to support Russian. Luckily,
these characters are also very easy to add since the glyphs can be
simply copied from U+00CB LATIN CAPITAL LETTER E WITH DIAERESIS and
U+00EB LATIN SMALL LETTER E WITH DIAERESIS.

I'd report this upstream but I don't know how to contact them and I'm
not sure they even welcome suggestions or wishlist items on their
fonts. Perhaps the Debian maintainer can copy the glyphs in question
(it's a trivial task with FontForge)?

This could also be done for Gentium Italic, but it is of limited value
since Gentium Italic sadly only has a small subset of cyrillic
characters anyway.

Hi,

the current version of the package (fonts-sil-gentium/1.02-12) ships
also the cyrillic characters U+401 and U+451.

I'm closing this bug, feel free to reopen if you think it's needed.

Cheers,
Francesca
