Sorry if this wasn't clear. Actually it is the same as the one I've
mentioned in the following message:

  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=680582#23

"But for the last two, the accent appears after the first character
and before the second one."

(i.e. Liberation Mono and Droid Sans Mono fall in the same class,
but not Vera Mono, which has another incorrect behavior).

I've just done a test with gnome-terminal, and with the droid font,
the accent appears over the "e". The behavior is different here (but
still wrong). However I suspect that the cause may be the same or at
least related, and I think that the discussion should be kept at the
same place.

Note: with DejaVu Sans Mono, the behavior is correct with both gedit
and gnome-terminal (accent over the "a").

The screenshots seem to confirm what I can see.

The Ubuntu bug also mentions Courier New, which is incorrect.

There are at least 3 possible behaviors in gedit (one is correct,
two are incorrect), depending on the chosen Mono font. So, this
is a bit complex. One should first know what is the cause.
