Re: [Pkg-fonts-devel] non-DFSG postscript embedded in fontforge [was: Re: Imager]

Dear Daniel and others,

regarding contacting Adobe I can do that, in so far as I know someone who works there. There are two different issues:-

     (1) fixing an error in the code, this should be no problem, it requires no change of license, this should be treated as a bug that is in the process of being fixed

     (2) seeing if the terms of the license can be changed, this may or may not be possible

however for both of these issues I need to be clear as to exactly what changes need to be made.

Also we need to be clear ourselves as to the nature of the licensing issue namely the question does the current licensing affect just fontforge, all type 1 fonts made with fontforge or all type1 fonts.

Regards
John

What about simply contacting Adobe asking for a more liberal license for

I agree that would be the ideal end result, but i have no idea who to even begin contacting at Adobe that might get us any sort of answer before June (the wheezy freeze, when i'd like to have this issue resolved by).

Does anyone have any contacts at Adobe that might be able to weigh in on this?
