Re: [Pkg-fonts-devel] Fw: Packaging UKIJ fonts

Dear Christian,

Please allow me to reply to your email about the UKIJ fonts packaging issue. Your proposition about the naming seems ok to me. One of the possible English translations of the UKIJ -- Uyghur Kompytér Ilimi Jem'iyiti -- is : Uyghur Computer Science Association. In order to share the fonts with as larger group of people as possible, we made them available under both licenses. I recommend you use the OFL if you think it is compatible enough with your font license policy.

We will be happy to answer any question you may have.

Kind regards,

Waris A. Janbaz
Co-founders of the UKIJ

Hello Gheyret,

In order to package the UKIJ fonts, I have to send an "Intent To
package" bug report against the virtual "wnpp" package.

The ITP must contain the proposed name for the package as well as a
description for the package.

According to the pkg-fonts team policy, the name of the package should
be:

font-ukij-uyghur

(font-<foundry>-fontname: here as there are many fonts, I think we can
say that the collection of fonts is made and distributed by UKIJ,
Uyghur Kompyutér Ilimi Jem'iyiti)

The package description must include a on-line synopsis and a longer
description.

At first glance, I propose something like:

Description: fonts for Uyghur language representation
This package provides a full set of fonts meant to be use for Uyghur
language.
.
These fonts are provided by UKIJ,  UKIJ,
Uyghur Kompyutér Ilimi Jem'iyiti: .........................

("..................." should be replaced by the English translation
of UKIJ.....which I cant' find on UKIJ website)

Do you think that would be OK?

Also, I need to know the exact license for the fonts. The
http://ukij.org/fonts/ mentions both LGPL3 and OFL. Which one is the
right one?
