(I really don't know how to create the ttf). Not compiling source fonts (such as .sfd files) is OK. TTF files are considered to be possible to modify anyway. The font packaging policy which you'll find on wiki.deiban.org is *outdated*. Don't use it. We haven't, yet, any big packaging policy. A document about packages naming is underway, but that's all. Basically, the point is calling fonts packages as "font-([foo]-)bar, where foo (optional) is the foundry name and bar is the font name.
