Quoting Rogério Brito (rtbrito@ig.com.br): > I am *not* against having "buildability" of the fonts or whatever. I am > against not preserving the fonts. I 101% follow Daniel on this: if rebuilding the from from source does not preserve it, then the font or the toolchain has a problem. So, the problem must be fixed. This is, imho, also what free software is about, and particularly in Debian where we put more value in the *quality* of the work we're doing than the visible result (well, sometimes, users don't get this...and, as a user myself...and quite a large one...I can understand them...while still sticking with the principles I adhered to when I joined Debian). This is about the same reason that motivates full archive rebuilds that often unveil problems that would have been ignored otherwise. The result for the end user is most of the time NULL.....but the quality improvement that it generates does benefit all users in the long term. So, really, I don't see why we shouldn't rebuild fonts from source when source is available.
