Dear pkg-fonts team, As you're probably already aware Debian will be one the communities present at the at the upcoming FOSDEM 2009 in Brussels, Belgium: http://fosdem.org/2009/schedule/devrooms/debian Is anyone from the team going to be attending the conference? Wouter Verhelst has granted me a slot to talk about the work on the Debian Font Task Force and wider font related issues. I intend to give an overview of the work done by all of you (credit to where credit is due!) within the Debian Fonts Task Force: the needs and challenges, the growing body of open fonts now apt-get-able, the impact on i18n, some tips on finding/using/managing open fonts, the toolkit for designing/contributing to existing projects and the wider open font community: OpenFontLibrary, freedesktop.org, cross-distro collaboration, etc. Future ideas and things the team could tackle in the new dev cycle. And also how others can help. I'm still working on the presentation so please send your thoughts about things you feel should be presented and discussed. We'll probably have some informal BoF on font-related issues sometime during the week-end. Hope to see some of you there! Cheers, -- Nicolas Spalinger, NRSI volunteer Debian/Ubuntu font team / OpenFontLibrary http://planet.open-fonts.org
